Happy tears only: How to have a romantic and indulgent day to mark the date!

To all the brides and grooms who've had to postpone their 2020 wedding date, we know it's so tough and we want you to know we're here for you.

Life is overwhelming enough right now without having to pause and re-organise an entire wedding – from contacting all your vendors to thinking what to do with 200 invites and realising your flower girls will have grown out of their dresses before the new date comes round, it's not quite the romantic adventure you had in mind.

take a break and breathe

There are some really useful step-by-step guides out there to pressing pause on your wedding and reorganising for another date, but for now, let's throw the timeline and paperwork aside and see what we can do to rekindle a bit of that old-fashioned romance!

We want to help you make your postponed 2020 wedding date a day to remember for all the RIGHT reasons. Here's how...

Allow yourself to go through all the emotions in the months or weeks leading up to your day. So much is up in the air and you've invested months of thought and anticipation into your plans, that of course it's going to be a roller-coaster of feelings.

Don't take it out on each other! Over time you'll find you calm and one of the best ways of doing that is to focus on some fun and romantic gestures you can bestow upon your fiancé, bridesmaids, groomsmen and family to make your postponed wedding date a day when any tears are happy tears!

1. Send a heartfelt note by snail mail

Take a little time to pen a card to the key members of your wedding party -the power of a hand-written card through the letter box is not to be underestimated and it's a lovely way to communicate feelings you might not be able to do face-to-face. For example, tell your bridesmaids why they're so special to you- it's sure to get the happy tears flowing!

2. Send a bouquet

Flowers are a lovely touch and always bring some romance to the situation. For yourself, your fiancé, Mothers of the Bride and Groom and bridesmaids alike!

3. Throw a party online or distanced in the garden with your top table

It doesn't have to be a long one, but even just a 40 minute zoom with the key people that were to feature large on your big day will lift the spirits no end. You could even ask for everyone to have their snail mail ready to open together and if someone's arranged for everyone to have item 4 to hand, all the better!!

4. And of course... Eat Cake!

We wouldn't want the day to go unmarked by a tasty morsel of freshly baked cake – obviously! So we've put together a collection of mini romantic cakes – from something simple and understated in buttercream to dreamy wedding cakes in miniature, there's something to bring a big smile to your day! Our bridesmaids cupcake bouquets will also go down a treat and everything can be personalised with a message to add the extra feel-good factor! With hand-delivery available across Edinburgh and Glasgow and even shipping available on some of the designs, we've got it all covered!
